The Bison Motorsports Team is a traditional, self-governing student association composed of students from mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science, as well as economics, media studies, and other studies. Founded in 1998, the team has regularly participated in the annual Formula Student events and competitions since 2000 as part of Formula SAE and represents North Dakota State University before a broad international audience.
We are a group of motorsport and technology enthusiasts who complement their studies with a comprehensive practical component. In addition to working with other degree programs, we are drawn to interdisciplinary training, such as CAD, welding, soldering, turning, and milling, as well as project and financial management, depending on the area in which you work. In principle, we are open to students from any discipline, regardless of semester or prior experience, and thus offer every member the opportunity to share our passion. Most of us stay in the team for several years and spend a large part of our time there in addition to the usual university activities.
